چکیده

As a high-strength corrosion-resistant alloy, stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior is key consideration for the conventional, wrought form of 17-4PH stainless steel. With increasing popularity additively manufactured (AM) 17-4PH, understanding SCC AM will be similarly critical its presumed, future applications. The current study quantifies and compares both form, as baseline, at peak-aged (∼1,200 MPa) overaged (∼1,050 strength levels. laser powder bed fusion technique followed by post-process hot isostatic press (HIP), solution annealing, aging heat treatments used to produce with similar microstructures levels facilitate comparison. quantified using fracture mechanics-based rising (dK/dt = 2 MPa√m/h) constant 0 intensity tests in neutral 0.6 M NaCl various applied potentials. Limited susceptibility was observed open-circuit anodic potentials forms 17-4PH. At cathodic potentials, consistently underperforms up 5-fold faster crack growth rates 200 mV 400 wider ranges. These results are interrogated through microstructural fractographic analysis interpreted decohesion-based hydrogen-assisted model. Initial analyses show that (1) increased oxygen content, (2) porosity induced argon processing, (3) slow cooling (310°C/h) during conventional HIP processing might contribute degraded performance

Machinability Improvement of 17-4PH Stainless Steel by Cryogenic Cooling

17-4PH stainless steel is a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel that provides an outstanding combination of high strength, good corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, good toughness in both base metal and welds, and short time, low-temperature heat treatments that minimize warpage and scaling. This valuable alloy is widely used in the aerospace, nuclear, chemical, pet...

Corrosion Fatigue of 17-4pH Stainless Steel in a Simulated Sea Water Solution

Since martensitic precipitation hardened 17-4pH stainless steel has been widely used in corrosive environments, evaluation of its corrosion fatigue behavior is important. In this research, after microstructural studies, mechanical, corrosion, fatigue and corrosion fatigue tests were performed on 17-4pH specimens. Fatigue and corrosion fatigue tests were carried out at the  stress ratio of -1 an...

Corrosion Behavior of Stainless Steel Clad Rebar

Stainless steel clad rebar (SCR) was investigated because it may become a cost-effective means of controlling corrosion in concrete under very aggressive environments. Sound SCR (316L cladding) resisted corrosion in saturated Ca(OH)2 solution (SCS) with up to 5 wt% chloride. Cladding breaks on SCR induced significant corrosion of exposed underlying CS in SCS with only 1 wt% chloride. A computer...
